Core Platforms for Digital Contents Project
The integration and management of digital contents has become an important issue as the number of projects and the institutions involved in the Taiwan e-Learning and Digital Archives Program increases rapidly. Therefore, the Core Platforms for Digital Contents Project is responsible for establishing and maintaining network operational platforms as well as for integrating, organizing, retrieving, and storing the distributed multimedia digital contents. The goals are to achieve automated office management and optimized preservation, retrieval, and presentation of digital archives. The following strategic plans have been established.
- Providing common core services
- Establishing a uniform representation and search platform through a Union Catalog
- Diversifying, popularizing, refining and globalizing archive exhibitions
- Achieving sustainable preservation and management for the archives
In addition to setting up an e-services environment for library maintenance, document archiving, system auditing, and e-newsletter publishing, the project is also responsible for several tasks regarding data management including design of the TELDAP main portal, setting up public exhibition systems by creating a Union Catalog of archived holdings from all projects and developing a remote backup system to achieve sustainable preservation. This Division Project has the following four sub-projects:
